Compare Wrought Aluminum vs. Ornamental Concrete

  • Best value- weather-resistant, virtually maintenance-free!
  • Lightweight under 50 lbs., easy to ship and move- hard to break
  • No freeze/thaw problems(non-porous)
  • Non-rusting, stays strong
  • Hollow, can be wired for electrical light
  • Hard and smooth surface texture, paint sticks and details stay painted on
  • Painted with oil-based paints in bold, contrasting, vibrant colors- ages gracefully
  • Smooth surface almost cleans itself and wipes off easily
  • Strong impact strength
  • High flexural strength- very sturdy- can get knocked over and set back up with no damage
  • Non-weather resistant- high maintenance- erodes and stains easily- soaks in mold spores and biological deposits from the rain which turn black over time
  • Heavy over 150 lbs., hard to ship and move-easy to break
  • Weak in freeze/thaw conditions- Porous concrete soaks in water which freezes and causes cracking/crumbling
  • Rebar "skeleton" gets wet and rusts, spalls(concrete detaches from rusting rebar), and eventually causes unit to crumble
  • Solid, can't be wired
  • Porous surface- paint either soaks in and bleeds or soaks out and flakes off- no paint sticks good to concrete
  • Latex paint goes on in dull colors and then fades
  • Spongy, porous surface- hard to clean
  • Weak impact strength- fragile, easily chipped and cracked when kids play with it or it gets hit with garden tools or hail
  • Low flexural strength- could shatter like glass if knocked over

  • THE PAINT BLEEDS AND JUST DOESN'T STICK ON CONCRETE- WHAT A MESS!
